Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our services, caregivers, and how we can help your family.

General

How can I get involved with your organization?

We're always looking for compassionate people to join our care team. If you're interested in becoming a caregiver, reach out to us at chase@cahelpinghands.com or call 818-963-7149. We hire W-2 employees (not independent contractors), and all caregivers receive training in CPR, First Aid, and our approach to person-centered care.

How can I stay updated on your latest news and events?

You can sign up on our website to receive occasional email updates about California Helping Hands — no spam, just helpful information about home care and what's happening with our team. You can also follow us on social media for tips, caregiver spotlights, and community updates.

Are your caregiving services available 24/7?

We offer flexible scheduling including part-time, full-time, and 24-hour care. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but care itself can be arranged for any time of day or night, including weekends and holidays. There's a 4-hour minimum per visit.

How can I arrange for care at home?

Start by calling us at 818-963-7149 or filling out the contact form on our website. We'll have a friendly conversation to learn about your loved one's situation, then walk you through next steps — which typically include an in-home assessment, building a personalized care plan, and matching you with a caregiver. You can also use our "Find Your Care Plan" tool on the homepage to get a quick recommendation.

Caregiver Services

How do I know if my loved one needs professional home care?

Some common signs include difficulty with daily activities like bathing, dressing, or cooking; increased forgetfulness or confusion; recent falls or mobility challenges; loneliness or social isolation; or a recent hospital stay or surgery. If you're noticing any of these, even just starting a conversation with us can help you understand what options are available. There's never any pressure.

Can I choose the caregiver who will provide care?

We carefully match caregivers to clients based on personality, needs, experience, and preferences. If for any reason the match doesn't feel right, let us know and we'll find someone who's a better fit. Your comfort and your loved one's comfort always come first.

How do I provide feedback about the care my loved one receives?

We welcome feedback anytime. You can call our office directly at 818-963-7149, email chase@cahelpinghands.com, or speak with your care coordinator. Clear communication is one of our core values, and we want families to feel informed, supported, and confident in the care their loved one is receiving.

Can your caregivers assist with medication reminders?

Yes. Our caregivers can provide medication reminders to help your loved one take the right medications at the right times. It's important to note that as a non-medical home care agency, we do not administer medications — but we do ensure your loved one stays on track with their prescribed schedule and can alert family members or medical providers if there are any concerns.

Pricing & Scheduling

How does pricing work?

We offer three tiers of care — Essential, Personal, and Advanced — with transparent hourly rates starting at $32/hr. Pricing depends on the level of care your loved one needs and the time of day. There are no hidden fees, and every plan includes a matched, trained caregiver. We're happy to walk you through the options on a call so you can find the right fit for your family's budget.

What's the minimum number of hours per visit?

The minimum is 4 hours per visit. This ensures our caregivers have enough time to provide meaningful, unrushed support rather than a quick check-in. Most families find that 4 to 8 hours of daytime care is a comfortable starting point.

What areas do you serve?

We serve families across three Southern California counties: Los Angeles County (including El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and surrounding areas), Orange County (including Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Irvine, Seal Beach, and surrounding areas), and Ventura County (including Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Camarillo, Oxnard, and surrounding areas).

What if I need to cancel or change a scheduled visit?

We understand that plans change. Just give us as much notice as possible, and we'll work with you to adjust the schedule. For specifics on our cancellation policy, your care coordinator will walk you through everything when you set up your care plan.
